John “Popa” Castaneda
November 9, 1971 - October 23, 2021
The late John “Popa” Castaneda was one of the founders of McDivot’s years and years ago and the mastermind behind our entire menu. For 25 years, Popa earned the respect and admiration of the entire Westchase community and created our incredible recipes––not the least of which was our legendary wings! He had an intense passion for putting out the best quality possible.
Popa was the friendly face of McDivot’s, his honest heart-felt love that he radiated to all those he met was genuine and infectious. He had a bigger than life persona that made everyone who ever met him know you were immediately accepted into his family. His steady presence at McDivot’s allowed us all to have a place to go “where everyone knows your name”.
Popa was featured in countless publications over the years and gained national attention for a story he did on the Super Bowl wing shortage of 2021!
Sadly, on October 23rd, 2021 Popa passed after a hard fought health battle
